Invest in Azerbaijan

Introduction

Azerbaijan is a country at the heart of Central Eurasia. It is located between the Caspian Sea coastline and the high Caucasus Mountains. A former Soviet republic, Azerbaijan became independent in 1991. Its cultural dimension has significantly developed, particularly in Baku, and remains diverse throughout the rest of the country.

Azerbaijan is a destination rich in natural resources, ranging from oil and gas to various precious metals. It also has strong tourism potential, offering year-round opportunities, including natural springs suitable for the development of thermal and wellness resorts.

Many religions coexist in Azerbaijan, as stated in the Constitution.

The country is also very sensitive to environmental issues. See an example of Azerbaijani very active association for the promotion of biodiversity, green spaces, oceans and seas: IDEA (International Dialogue for Environmental Action).

Azerbaijan is a politically stable country located at the crossroads of the North-South and East-West transit corridors, playing a major role in ensuring Europe’s energy security. As an active participant in global infrastructure projects, Azerbaijan is not dependent on any external power thanks to the development of independent infrastructure funded by its own financial resources.

As a key player in the Caucasus region, Azerbaijan not only develops local connectivity and infrastructure but also creates new alternatives and opportunities for the entire region.

The Alat Free Economic Zone (AFEZ), located on the Caspian Sea and near the capital Baku, is an ideal location for investors looking to take advantage of an open hub to distribute their products and services using high-quality existing infrastructure to clients in Russia (to the north), Turkey and Georgia (to the west), Iran (to the south), and markets in the Middle East and Central Asian countries to the east, including access to China and beyond.

A presentation can be found on the website.

There are many other investment opportunities and facilities, such as the recently liberated territories (restitutions recognized by the United Nations), which have been declared green energy zones and will soon be fully reconstructed with a strong focus on sustainability (solar energy, hydropower, etc.). These territories have great potential for agriculture, industry, tourism, electricity production, and more.

IT parks, industrial parks, chemical industrial parks, and agricultural parks offer attractive conditions for residents to operate in Azerbaijan and access regional markets of over 150 million people.

The purpose of the pages in this section is to provide information about all the opportunities available in Azerbaijan, as well as its legal and tax framework.
